MEET NEW UMBRELLA

Wish I Had A Sylvia Plath

Picture
WHO: Esther Greenwood (Heroine of The Bell Jar )
WHERE: Inside Esther’s brain (Inside an oven)
WHEN: The last ten seconds
WHAT: Esther must Mix, Whip and Blend her Memories, Fantasies and Illusions into the most perfect poem of her life before Olson the Magic Oven takes her away.

You’re Invited!

How do you create a happy life? Meet Esther Greenwood, a 1950s American housewife and poet with her head in the oven. As she confronts her last few moments in this world, Esther will mix, whip and blend her memories, dreams and illusions to perfection…all before the baking timer dings!

Newly revised in anticipation of its Off-Broadway run at 59E59,
Wish I Had a Sylvia Plath is an award-winning multimedia tragicomedy not to be missed! Loosely based on the life and work of Sylvia Plath, the play is written by Edward Anthony, performed by Elisabeth Gray, directed by Daniel S. Zimbler, and features stunning multimedia by Juilliard directing fellow John Farmanesh-Bocca.

"a poignant, engrossing work of genius" - Venue *****

"Startlingly refreshing and intriguing...Elisabeth Gray holds the stage and holds everything together with an intense performance."- Theatre Guide London

"a moving meditation on the difficulties of combining creativity and domesticity...Cleverly combining film with live action, the show veers wildly- like Esther's mind- between farce and tragedy… I left the theatre with a lump in my throat."- The Guardian ****

"the talented writer and actress Elisabeth Gray" -The New Yorker
